Cross-media platform production meeting

What I did: -

In this meeting I dividing the team into their working areas: – Film, animation and sound.

Film Team

The script was read and discussed. Positives and negatives were brought forward and ideas for narrative changes were laid out. These changes were: -

• Not related to the structure of the narrative, only in how the laid out scenes should be constructed.
• The tonal aspect of the scenes, how did they play and what would be conveyed by them.

I asked the team to think about how they wanted to construct shots and begin storyboarding scenes.

Animation Team

Again the script as a whole was discussed, though only a section would be animation (plus graphic novel). I had the team: -

• Begin to construct the scene narratives (this having not been defined)
• Begin to storyboard ideas
• Coming up with design concept e.g. Halloween mask
• Think more about how the animation is going to fit together with the video, and with the next section (sound)

Sound Team

With half the sound team not present I had the one team member begin to: -

• Think more about the sound design construction
• The technical aspect of the performance e.g. standard radio play or through mobile phone/radio
• The narrative, how it is going to play out, coming from the lead in (animation) to the next section (video)

Conclusion: –

This meeting was very useful. It allowed me to get every member of the team on board with the narrative, the narrative as a whole and their own sections. I will continue to liaise between the separate teams so they can concentrate on their sections. This will allow them to focus on what they are doing and not be distracted by the larger picture.

As PM I will continue to view the narrative as a whole so that the sections fit together cohesively, each one working with and not against one another, not unless I want them to.
